July 2020: Soon Jie Hui Joanne has been awarded Summa Cum Laude in the La Pianista #BeatYourSelf Online Piano Festival 2020!

Congratulations to Joanne Soon for being awarded Summa Cum Laude* in the Toddler group of the “La Pianista #BeatYourSelf Online Piano Festival 2020”!

*Summa Cum Laude: A latin term meaning a student has achieved a result of “the highest distinction”.

February 2020: Jayden Kwan is a 2nd Prize Winner in the 2020 International Music Competition London Grand Prize Virtuoso!

Congratulations to Jayden Kwan! Jayden has been chosen as a 2nd Prize Winner of the 2020 International Music Competition “London” Grand Prize Virtuoso.
Jayden is under the tutelage of Ms. Haivan for Violin and Mandeville Strings Program. He is also learning the viola from Ms. Anh.

He is a very lovely and hard working student. He loves to perform for public and charity events like the ACS charity concert in 2019.

January 2020: Chua Shi Yun & Erica Kan chosen as 1st Prize Winners of the 2020 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition!

Congratulations to Chua Shi Yun & Erica Kan for being First Prize Winners in the 2020 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition. Both students are under the tutelage of Ms. Christine Octaviani.

November 2019: Andrei wins Gold in 1st Le Petit Performer's Festival!

Andrei Slobodyanyuk took part in the 1st Le Petit Performer’s Festival 2019 (Piano) and achieved Gold!

September 2019: Shi Yun Performs at the Singapore Performing Arts Festival!

Teacher Christine’s student, Chua Shi Yun, was invited to perform at the Singapore Performing Arts Festival Gala Concert on 15th September 2019. Congratulations!


August 2019: Celestia Scores 2nd in Alessandro Giuliani Violin Competition ASEAN Round

We are proud to announce that Celestia Maye Choo won 2nd Prize in the Intermediate category of the Alessandro Giuliani Violin Competition ASEAN Round held on 31st August 2019. Well done Celestia!!

August 2019: Andrei Scores Gold at the Singapore International Music Arts Festival!

Andrei Slobodyanyuk is winning top prizes from festivals to competitions. Here he is again with a Gold trophy at the 2019 Singapore International Music Arts Festival. Congratulations Andrei and Ms Natalia!

August 2019: Lim Jing Rui Gets Gold at the Singapore Asia Youth Piano Competition!

Lim Jing Rui (Piano student of Teacher Serene) attained a Gold award at the Singapore Asia Youth Piano Competition. The Gold award winners get to go for another semi-final round in March 2020 & winners can go on to participate in the PIARA competition in Japan. Mandeville Conservatory wishes him the best in the future competition rounds!

August 2019: Sophia Sum Receives Music Scholarship at Universities around the world

Sum Yan Yin, student of teacher Lynn Kang, has received scholarship offers to pursue music in 國立臺灣師範大學 National Taiwan Normal University, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance & Leeds College of Music. She also received offers from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire & Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

May 2019: Mandeville Students Perform at ISACA's 50th Anniversary

Mandeville Strings students (led by Ms Hai Van) were invited by Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) to perform at its 50th Anniversary celebration. It was an experience not to be missed, as they performed to a grand audience which includes IT governance, technology audit, control, and cybersecurity professionals.

2018: Vivien Chong Accepted at Yong Siew Toh Coversatory of Music

Mandeville Conservatory would like to give congratulations to Ms. Vivien Chong, student of teacher Lynn Kang, has been accepted to BMus (Hons) programmes at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Singapore), Royal College of Music (UK), Royal Northern College of Music (UK), Royal Scotland Conservatoire (UK), Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (UK), and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (UK). Other recent achievements include Anglo-Chinese Junior College Music Elective Programme Young Performer Award and Trinity College London LTCL Diploma Exam (Distinction).

July 2018: Angela Chong wins Gold at Euroasia Strings Competition

Angela Chong (4 years old!) has achieved Gold at the Euroasia Strings Competition. Angela is a student of our Baby Violin course under Teacher Natalia Kurganova.

ABRSM July 2018 Exams: Hannah Chew Scores a High Distinction for Grade 8 Practical Exams

Congratulations to Hannah Chew for scoring a high distinction in her violin ABRSM Grade 8 in July 2018! Hannah is a student of Ms. Tatyana Todorova. Her older brother was also Ms Tatyana’s student who completed his Grade 8 years ago. The Chew family has stayed with Mandeville Conservatory of Music since Ms. Tatyana came to Singapore 16 years ago and we are thankful for their continued support.

ABRSM July 2018 Exams: Gabriel Yap Scores Distinction for ATCL Diploma

Congratulations to Gabriel Yap for scoring Distinction in his Piano ATCL Diploma exam. Gabriel started piano lessons with Teacher Grace Sia in 2015. In 2017, he performed at the ABRSM high scorer’s concert & in 2018 was awarded a Distinction in the ATCL diploma recital. He also plays the piano in church to accompany the choir.

He enjoys his lessons with Teacher Grace. Gabriel plays the violin and the Sheng (Chinese wind instrument) & is learning the drums as well. He participated in the String Orchestra & Chinese Orchestra in his primary school and the school was awarded ‘Distinction’ for both SYF presentations. Gabriel is 13 and currently studying in NUS High School of Mathematics and Science.

December 2017: Mandeville Performs with Bo Ai Elementary School, Taipei, Taiwan

At the invitation of the Taipei Muncipal Bo Ai Elementary School (台北市信義區博愛國民小學), Mandeville Stars performed with students of the school in a joint concert on 16 December 2017. The collaborative event is part of Mandeville’s continuing effort in enriching our students’ learning journey and helping them engage with the global community as musicians. More than 120 students, family members and teachers traveled from Singapore to Taiwan to participate in the concert. Click here to view more pictures from the concert. 

 

August 2017: Mandeville Students Win High Accolades at the Singapore Raffles International Music Festival

Mandeville students win multiple awards at the Singapore Raffles International Music Festival 2017. Mandeville Trio, The Rhythm Boys, was accorded the highest Gold with Honours award and performed at the award’s Gala concert on 5 Aug.

Meanwhile, The Violin Stars Commandos and The Lords of the Strings also won Gold in the Chamber Music and Instrumental category respectively. Violin Stars students Lim Jing Rui & Elrica Victoria Teo also won Excellent Performance and Best Performance for their respective Solo Competition category. Well done and congratulations!

December 2016: Mandeville Violin Stars Performs with Vienna Boys Choir

In December 2016, Mandeville’s Violin Stars traveled to Vienna to perform a joint concert with the famed Vienna Boys Choir. It was a remarkable display of talents unheard of for Singapore’s music school scene. Click here to view more pictures from the concert.

2016: Cherl Toh Yun Yee awarded Distinction - Licentiate of Trinity College London Diploma examination in Music Performance

Cheryl is a student of Mandeville Conservatory of Music under Teacher Christine Octaviani since 2011. She was awarded a Distinction in her Licentiate of Trinity College London Diploma examination in Music Performance in 2016. She was also awarded the gold medal award in the senior category of the biennial Mandeville Music Festival in 2015 and 2017. As a student in Mandeville, she has performed in many places such as the Alliance Francaise Theatre and the Japanese Association Auditorium.

Having taken music as a formal subject in both secondary school and junior college, Cheryl also had many opportunities to perform in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM) Orchestra Hall and the Esplanade Recital Studio. Additionally, she was a recipient of the Ministry of Education Music Elective Scholarship (MES) from 2016 to 2017.

She was also a member of her secondary school and junior college band and performed in both the Esplanade Concert Hall and YSTCM Concert Hall during her annual band concerts.

Cheryl also has a brother and sister who plays the violin and she regularly accompanies them in their performances and competitions.

She aspires to become a music performer, music therapist and teacher in the future.
