Sum Yan Yin, student of teacher Lynn Kang, has received scholarship offers to pursue music in 國立臺灣師範大學 National Taiwan Normal University, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance & Leeds College of Music. She also received offers from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire & Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Congratulations to Gabriel Yap for scoring Distinction in his Piano ATCL Diploma exam. Gabriel started piano lessons with Teacher Grace Sia in 2015. In 2017, he performed at the ABRSM high scorer’s concert & in 2018 was awarded a Distinction in the ATCL diploma recital. He also plays the piano in church to accompany the choir.
He enjoys his lessons with Teacher Grace. Gabriel plays the violin and the Sheng (Chinese wind instrument) & is learning the drums as well. He participated in the String Orchestra & Chinese Orchestra in his primary school and the school was awarded ‘Distinction’ for both SYF presentations. Gabriel is 13 and currently studying in NUS High School of Mathematics and Science.

Meanwhile, The Violin Stars Commandos and The Lords of the Strings also won Gold in the Chamber Music and Instrumental category respectively. Violin Stars students Lim Jing Rui & Elrica Victoria Teo also won Excellent Performance and Best Performance for their respective Solo Competition category. Well done and congratulations!
Having taken music as a formal subject in both secondary school and junior college, Cheryl also had many opportunities to perform in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM) Orchestra Hall and the Esplanade Recital Studio. Additionally, she was a recipient of the Ministry of Education Music Elective Scholarship (MES) from 2016 to 2017.
She was also a member of her secondary school and junior college band and performed in both the Esplanade Concert Hall and YSTCM Concert Hall during her annual band concerts.
Cheryl also has a brother and sister who plays the violin and she regularly accompanies them in their performances and competitions.
She aspires to become a music performer, music therapist and teacher in the future.
